"Why would you bring a hamster? It’s going to die soon anyway." These were the words I said in elementary school, trying to fit in with those around me. I felt like I had made a mistake, and those words have been stuck in my heart ever since. I thought that if I just ignored that discomfort, it would eventually fade away... But one day, my former classmate Sarasa appeared and told me, "It died, the hamster." This is the title story "Soft Memorial Day," which depicts girls moving forward by mourning their past. It also includes the story "Fleeting War," about a girl who continues to hold onto her feelings of defeat, and the previously unpublished work "It’s Not Spring Yet," which won the Jade Award at the Yuri Hime Comic Awards, among six other stories. A bittersweet and gentle tale of earnest girls.
